If only I had been in my tree stand

This snowy owl is about eye level for me, had I been sitting in my tree seat.  Dad and I see owls every year when we are hunting but they are usually barred owls.  The last time we saw a snowy owl was in 1998 when we had a massive ice storm.  We had three pictures of this guy and then he was gone.

  1. This just in – Brother In Law tells me this is a barred owl not a snowy one.

  2. Confirmed – I need to learn my owls =) This is a barred owl, not a snowy one. But during the ice storm, we did have a SNOWY, all white owl. Ill see if I can find a pic of that one.

  3. I remember once hearts ago while bowhunting I had a owl land in the tree next to the one I was sitting in at eye level. I was so surprised I just sat there frozen like a Popsicle.

  4. I love seeing owls. They'll be looking for mates soon, lots more hooting at night.
